Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a wide-ranging civil rights law that prohibits, under certain circumstances, discrimination based on disability. The ADA does not apply to the federal judiciary. However, pursuant to Judicial Conference policy, federal courts provide reasonable accommodations to persons with communications disabilities.

Requests from participants for accommodations to facilitate physical access to the court buildings will be promptly referred to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) officers designated by the General Services Administration for each building.

The District of Montana has approved guidelines for providing accommodations for case participants with communications disabilities in compliance with Judicial Conference policy.
