Online Payment for Criminal Debt

The U.S. District Court for the District of Montana now has the capability to accept on-line payments for special assessments, fines, and restitution up to a maximum of $5,000 per transaction.

Payments may be made via U.S. Treasury website, Pay.gov, using a bank account or a debit card.

TIP: You can find the Montana Criminal Debt page by searching for “MTD” or “Montana” from the search box at the Pay.gov Home Page.

General criminal debt questions may be referred to the Clerk’s Office Finance Department by calling (406) 829-7146 or by emailing mtd_restitution@mtd.uscourts.gov.

Please note this payment option covers criminal debt only. Tickets issued on federal lands are different and are paid at the CVB Website

Your case number will start with DMTX, followed by three numbers, CR, and then six more digits. An example is DMTX920CR000000.  If your case number is in a different format, it is likely a state/county court case.  Contact your local court for further instructions regarding payment.
