Ordering Transcripts & Audio Recordings

The District of Montana has three forms for ordering transcripts/audio recordings depending on who is ordering and what is being ordered.  Please review the applicable Transcript Fee Rates when submitting the order form.

1.  Parties Ordering Transcripts:

Parties’ requests for transcripts for a proceeding reported by a court reporter must be submitted to the Court using the Transcript Order Form.  All order forms must be filed in the case either by e-filing in CM/ECF or non-electronic submission to the Clerk of Court’s office.  Keep a copy for your records.  You must then contact the court reporter to make financial arrangements to pay for the transcripts.  Delivery times do not start to run until satisfactory financial arrangements are made, except for transcripts to be paid for by the United States.

    1. CJA Panel Member Instructions:

      1. CJA counsel must file an AUTH 24 transcript request in e-Voucher for approval prior to filing the transcript order form.

      2. Please review the CJA 24 Instructions for further information.

2.  Parties Ordering FTR Gold Recordings or Transcripts:

Parties’ requests for audio recordings and/or transcriptions of court proceedings recorded by FTR Gold must be submitted to the Court using the FTR Gold Recording/Transcription Order Form.  All audio recordings will be delivered via Box.com.  Instructions to retrieve purchased audio recordings are available here.

3.  Non-Parties ordering Transcripts or FTR Gold Recordings:

Non-parties who would like to order transcripts, audio recordings and/or transcriptions of court proceedings must use the Non-Party Transcript/FTR Gold Recording Order Form & Instructions.  All order forms must be delivered to the Clerk of Court’s Office via mail or in person for filing in CM/ECF.  Keep a copy for your records.  You must then contact the court reporter to make financial arrangements to pay for the transcripts.  Only two delivery times are available to non-parties:  30 days and 14-days.  Delivery times do not start to run until satisfactory financial arrangements are made.

All transcript orders forms must be e-filed in the case using the Court’s CM/ECF system, unless the ordering party does not have the ability to e-file or is not a party or attorney of record in the case in which the proceeding was held.  Detailed guidance on how to complete and submit the order forms is provided on the second page of each form.

In addition, parties must understand their responsibility to request redaction of personal identifying information from transcripts that will be filed and made available to the public through the Court's CM/ECF system.   For guidance on the District’s redaction policy, please review the Transcript Redaction Procedure and Schedule.
