The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts provided notice on January 6, 2021, of a national breach of the CM/ECF system and called upon courts to implement new security procedures to protect highly sensitive documents (HSDs). Available information suggests that HSDs are those documents containing information that would be of interest to hostile nation-state actors involved in international espionage. We do not know whether the breach impacted the District of Montana specifically. The Court will post new procedures in the coming days for the limited types of documents that meet the definition of HSDs on this website.
